I graduated in 2012 from Miami Dade College with an Associate’s degree in veterinary technology medicine. This is where I truly discovered my passion and devotion to animals and their well-being. I began working in this field in September of 2010 as an emergency hospital head tech and later on as nurse supervisor at another small animal practice. I joined the team at Country Walk Animal Hospital in January of 2021 as a surgery and room nurse. I have three loving dogs, a Husky mix “ Khalia”, a Schnauzer mix ‘Dino”, and a Great Dane “Nova”.
My hobbies include playing the piano, singing, and I aspire to one day learn how to play the violin. In my free time, I love to enjoy every minute I have with my daughter, husband, and furry babies. We are all excitedly awaiting the arrival of my newborn baby boy who is on the way.

Kathryn Almond
Vet Assistant
I started working at Country Walk Animal Hospital and volunteering at the South Florida SPCA and Schooley Farms in the summer of 2021. Growing up with animals throughout my childhood made me realize at a young age that I wanted to work with animals in the future. I currently have four fur babies of my own: Ruby, Holly, Athena and Jasper.
In my free time, I love going to the beach or spending time outdoors, enjoying nature. I’m currently attending the University of Central Florida, working towards earning my Bachelor’s degree in Biology. After college, I plan on attending vet school to get my Degree of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) before moving on to working with horses or wildlife.

Vet Assistant
I came to Country Walk Animal Hospital in May of 2019 and I am a Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA). I’m going on to study at FIU where I will major in Biological Sciences and minor in Pre-Veterinary Sciences. I’m also working toward my certification to become a certified dog trainer. When i’m not working, I volunteer for a dog rescue here in Miami, Hold public dog training classes, craft, and also train dogs for the MDCPS Police Therapy Unit. I have many pets including 3 dogs (Kyra, Sonic, and Lacey), 1 cat (Rosie), 4 birds (Koko, Blue, Kai, and Nalu), and Knuckles my hedgehog.d

Vet Assistant
I joined Country Walk Animal Hospital in the Spring of 2022 after volunteering at Miami Dade Animal Shelter. I’m currently getting my Bachelor’s in Biology to apply to a Veterinary school and become a Doctor in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and I would like to specialize on Equines since I have always been interested on horses.
I’m very passionate about animals and I always aim to give my best and help the patient and owner in any given situation. Most of the time when your babies come to our clinic, I give them a treat or pet them so they leave happy wagging their tail. I’m grateful for being part of this clinic that is not just a job but more like a strong team, a big family.
When I’m not working or studying I usually spend my time camping, riding horse, surfing, hiking, or working out. I have one Miniature Pinscher named Flechita ( the one and only ) and I am pretty sure I will have a horse one day… Pets are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.

Ashley Santiesteban
Vet Assistant / Receptionist
I am currently a student at Miami Dade college acquiring my Associate’s degree in veterinary technology. I have been part of the Country Walk team for almost 4 years now; my position involves assisting both Dr. Alvarez during examinations and clients in the reception area. Since I was very young, I knew my dream was to work with all types of animals and help them in whichever way possible, my hope is to one day work with exotics such as lions and tigers. Besides helping our fur babies, in my free time, I enjoy traveling, a day out in the ocean, watching movies, and rollerblading.
